Just like teaching your kids how to catch a pop fly or to clean up after themselves (yeah, right), getting them to eat better might take more than a couple of days. As we all know, good change doesn't happen overnight. If your children are returning to school soon, now is the perfect time to pack them healthy lunches. The Appetizer
Kids learn by watching others. So when they see you eating celery and peanut butter, they'll think about trying it today, consider it tomorrow, and dip in a week from now. Changing their diet will be a lot easier for them to swallow if the whole family participates.

Don't start steaming broccoli just yet. Most kids (adults, too) are resistant to new foods. Ease your family into new habits, and resist counting calories or fat grams. Obsessing over nutritional charts will make your children feel like they're not living up to unrealistic guidelines. Plus, it's a tedious way to go through life. Instead of using food as a reward, take everyone on a trip to the bowling alley or another place that's fun and active. Go to a sporting event or cool off at a water park.
