Beat the summer heat without busting your workout routine. These fun workout ideas will make you move and keep things cool.
  • Try morning or evening yoga. This time of year, many parks offer outdoor yoga for free.
  • If you have access to a lake, race your friends doing the doggie paddle. No cheating!
  • Crunch those abs and lunge those legs in the cool of your basement.
  • Swim laps—or just grab a kickboard and get moving.
  • Grab a Pilates® DVD from the library and manipulate your muscles from the comfort of your living room.
  • Try water aerobics.
  • Get up early, and watch the sunrise—on a bike ride through your neighborhood.
  • Near a beach? Walk along the waterline. The deeper you get, the more you'll work your leg muscles.
  • Get in during open ice time and cruise your local ice rink—how's that for cooling things down?
  • Run in the pool. Simply hop in the deep end, and move your body like you would if you were running on the pavement. The harder you work, the higher your body will sit on the water.
  • Walk through the mall (and color your calorie burn with some wonderful window-shopping).
  • Two words: Marco! Polo!
  • Grab an oar and work your arms and abs from the comfort of a canoe or kayak.
