Follow through on fitness resolutions with these tangible tips that'll keep your body in motion all year long.
1. Your resolution:
Work out more often.
Our solution: The hardest thing about "working out more often" is that it isn't measurable or tangible. So, make your goal specific. For example, set a goal to work out 10 times in a month.

Whatever your manageable goal is, write it down and schedule it. This is the most important part. Saying you're going to do something is one thing, but actually scheduling time to do it is the next step. Make the commitment to your health, and find time in the day. Plus, when you write down your goal, it'll be easier to assess whether or not you've achieved success.
2. Your resolution:
Complete a race.
Our solution: Participating in a race is one of the most rewarding workout experiences you can have. Not only do you experience the euphoria of setting a goal and completing it while people cheer you on, but many races also are tied to a good cause. So, choose a distance (regardless of your larger goal, it's a good idea to start small and work your way up), and find a race in your area. Then, sign up! Once you actually register for an event, you'll find new motivation and discipline to get out and get ready to go, go, go.
3. Your resolution:
Work up a sweat.
Our solution: If you want to pick up your pace, the best (and most enjoyable) way to do it is to grab some tunes. Load up your MP3 player with some invigorating tunes and get your feet shuffling to the beat. We recommend:
  • "Pump It" by the Black Eyed Peas
  • "A-Punk" by Vampire Weekend
  • "Here It Goes Again" by OK Go
  • "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey
  • "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses
4. Your resolution:
Burn more calories.
Our solution: When you're watching your waistline, it's a great idea to keep calories in check. In fact, one of the common pitfalls of a new workout regimen is that people "reward" themselves for hard work by indulging in food. If you're keeping track of your workout calories, you'll be a lot less likely to fall into this trap.

A good way to keep track is with a pedometer. When you know how much you're actually moving during the day, you'll have a better idea of how many calories you're actually burning.

Along with a pedometer, it's always a great weight-management strategy to keep track of the calories you consume and burn off. It's a great way to track your successes.
